Happy Thanksgiving Day to Everyone!

We had a wonderful meal and social time. Many people gave their testimonies and thanked God for the blessings in 2020. I am thankful for what God had blessed us, too. Once again, thank you for all volunteers and supporters. Hopefully, you had a good time there and see you again next year!

Best Regards,

 October 26, 2020

All,

Hello! Stay warm as the weather is getting colder. For some of us, fall is the favorite time of the year. Some of us do enjoy the fall.

Attached is the report for October. It lists the accomplishments of what HHD did during that month. HHD is still getting many calls for help and it is hard to keep up with new clients every month.

May God bless HHD for its contribution to the community and clients.

Regards,
Meskel Crowe

Working day on Saturday

Thank you so much for taking your time. Four volunteers helped a deaf client for cleaning up at

her apartment for four solid hours. What a blessing! They sacrificed their time to help this deaf

client who had health issues. That massive clean-up effort cannot be done without their help.

These four volunteers cleaned out all kitchen cabinets and washed all dishes. Hence, all clean

dishes were placed inside the cabinets. All kitchen countertop and refrigerator were cleaned out.

Moreover, they cleaned out the dining room, living room, bedrooms and bathroom. It was a real

blessing that the deaf client was able to move around in her wheelchair. Before the clean – up,

the deaf client could not move about at all and she was also confined to her couch. Her papers

were all picked up, sorted and filed in the proper order. All clothes were folded and placed them

in boxes. She was thrilled to see her apartment so clean and she had the freedom to move around

in her wheelchair. Also, the other client was able to sleep on the lazy man chair without any

clutter around that chair. What a joy it was for the client to have these selfless volunteers to clean

up her whole apartment and then she was able to move about. She was smiling ear to ear!

The other volunteer has been teaching one deaf/blind and another deaf clients how to read and

write in the English language.

“But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing”

(2 Thessalonians 3:13)

July 22, 2020

Dear everyone,

Would you help deaf clients for HHD?

·         A deaf lady was in the hospital for about seven months. Then she was transferred to the rehabilitation care center. She could not go back home because her apartment is on the second floor. It is a real challenge for her to climb up the stairs to her apartment. She is in her wheelchair. HHD contacted her apartment manager to request that this deaf lady move downstairs. Then this manager requested for the proof of her handicaps from her doctor. Next, HHD contacted her doctor and her doctor understood. Then her doctor sent the letter to her apartment office. The manager got this letter confirming that she cannot climb stairs and approved that she can move to the apartment on the first floor. Finally, she will move to the apartment on the first floor this Friday. A deaf client had a big laugh with a shining smile! She is grateful and relieved. She and her son need help in moving to her new apartment. If you want to help them move, please let us know.

·         A deaf couple need your help. Her husband had a great job for more than 19 years, but something happened. Her husband had a stroke and it took him two months to recover from it. Hence, he lost his job. Anyway, he got his SSI, but his SSI income is very small. He has some health issues. So does his wife. HHD helped him and his wife to reduce their monthly mortgage payments. Their monthly paymants were cut almost in half! Their house really needs some repairs including the front door frame, the ceiling, and leaking water in their kitchen. Also, the branch that hangs over their deck needs to be cut off. They can’t afford to hire someone for their home repairs. If you have the talents to do that job, feel free to contact HHD.  You can be a volunteer and help them. HHD will give you the tax deducation.

·         One deaf client does not read and write and he really needs to find a health care center. We are looking for a place for him to live in. May God open the door for him.

·         HHD still accepts checks, online donations and gofundme so we may continue to serve our clients and community.

·         HHD has to cancel up to six fundraising events this year due to COVID 19. However, HHD still raises funds through donations. We thanked Susan and DeeAnn for preparing and hosting the ASL Digging Deeper classes. We regret that these classes had to be cancelled because of coronavirus pandemic.

·          If you have any questions, please contact or email HHD at hhandsusa@usa gmail.com or 678 228 8967.

Cordially yours,

Thoughtful Kindness

I am writing this letter on the behalf of Helping Hands for the Deaf (HHD) and inform you that we received all of your donated items. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and kindness. Our deaf clients do appreciate for your donation with a table and six chairs. In addition, the transportation was provided for bringing them to their residence. I can’t explain in words on how much I appreciate Barabara for all taking her time to encourage and support HHD.
Thank you Catherine and her son for providing transportation with that table with six chairs. Thank you, Bettrena and her volunteers for bringing and setting up the baby crib and a nice table with chairs in the other deaf client’s residence. They even brought a box of baby wipes and stuff. It was so blessing to have sweet people like them serving our client! God bless them as they serve our community

Thank you, Ms. Brown, for donating packages of baby clothes with beatiful basket, men clothes, and baby toys. That is a great that the pregnant deaf lady has everything that she needs for her baby. Now, she has a diaper bag stuffed with diapers, wipes and milk bottles. Also, she has shoes for her baby. This lady is really graterful for all what you have done for her.
Thanks to Ms. Hattrich for donating shoes and clothes. Deaf clients got their eyes shining when they received these clothes and shoes. It is heartwarming to know that you care.
Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. (Deuteronomy 15:10 10)
Often, HHD transports donated tables, chairs, beds, bulks of clothes, and so on to the clients who need them. So it would be nice if HHD has a pick-up truck to handle this type of transportation. Can someone donate a pick-up truck to HHD?
HHD needs a shed in order to accommodate with storing ever growing amout of donated goods. Can someone donate a shed that can be placed in the backyard?
All donations are tax deductables. HHD still accepts checks, online donations and gofundme so we may continue to serve our clients and community. Thank you!
Please feel free to contact me at 678 – 228 - 8967 if you have any questions.

Respectfully yours,
Meskel Crowe
